Child Sponsorship

Over 800 children who have been affected by HIV/AIDS are currently receiving support from Hope for Children-Ethiopia. More children needing help are referred or come to HFC-Ethiopia every day.

One way that we at Hope for Children-US can help is to find sponsors for affected children. For $350 a year (less than $1 a day), you can ensure that a child has food, shelter, clothing, and school fees and materials.  In addition, $50 of your annual payment will go into an Emergency Sponsorship Fund to meet any extraordinary needs of our sponsored children not covered by the regular monthly disbursements.  Staff monitor to ensure that the money is spent for the benefit of the children.

Sponsorship is a commitment by the sponsor to provide funds each year for the child until he or she reaches age 18. No amounts will be collected in future years, however, without the sponsor’s permission. Beyond age 18, it is up to the individual sponsor to determine whether to extend any continuing financial or other support for the sponsored child. For example, with help from a sponsor, some children have been able to continue their education.

Sponsors and their children exchange letters and photos and over time often develop a strong emotional connection. We believe that this connection is important in providing the children, many of whom suffer discrimination and stigmatization in their community, with a sense of place in the world.

If you would like to sponsor a child, please complete our sponsorship/donation form and send it to us with a check made payable to Hope for Children United States. We will follow up with a profile and picture of your sponsored child.
