Youth Center

Helping Youth Transition from Sponsorship to Independence

Since opening its doors in 2006 with funding provided by HFC-US, the Youth Center at Hope for Children has become a vital part of the lives of HFC’s older youth as it helps prepare them to make the difficult transition from sponsorship to independence.  The Center offers students the chance to improve their skills in English, gain competence using computers, take art classes, read and study in an in-house library, and take advantage of tutoring.

Hundreds of youth have regularly taken advantage of the Center’s supplemental educational offerings during the school year, with attendance jumping even higher during the summer break when the Center can operate full-time, 7 days a week.   Academic performance has shown marked improvement, and many more HFC youth are passing the difficult national exams, enabling them to pursue higher education.
