Hope for Children volunteers just “wrapped up” a very successful fundraiser at Barnes & Noble in Bethesda, MD, where we wrapped purchases for 12 hours a day, December 9 -13. We collected more than $1350, which will fund several vocational scholarships for HFC youth in Addis Ababa. In addition to collecting the donations, we were able to explain the mission and services of Hope for Children to lots of people, and gave out many brochures and fact sheets. Thanks to the Community Services department of Barnes & Noble, which provides the gift wrap and supplies.
We are always looking for creative fundraising ideas. If you would like to organize a similar effort at your local Barnes & Noble, or similar establishment, please contact us for details on how to do it.
Thanks to our volunteers, people who donated, and Barnes & Noble!

In September, HFC-US opened its first group home in Addis Ababa providing much needed shelter for four young children who had just lost their parents to AIDS and a young woman (Elsa) who, thanks to HFC-Ethiopia’s House of Hope, had recently regained her health and reunited with her own three children.
