Kids in Ethiopia are crazy about football (soccer to us), but most have no equipment – not even shoes. Now, thanks to donations of used equipment from many youth and families who participate in Montgomery Soccer, Inc. in Montgomery County, Maryland, Hope for Children youth are getting shoes, socks, shin guards and new friends. In September, HFC-US opened its first group home in Addis Ababa providing much needed shelter for four young children who had just lost their parents to AIDS and a young woman (Elsa) who, thanks to HFC-Ethiopia’s House of Hope, had recently regained her health and reunited with her own three children.
